Good News for the Villa Arnold in Brno
The City of Brno has received 36 million Czech Crowns/ GBP£1,234,000 from the Norway Funds for the repair of the Arnold Villa. The Secessionist/Art Nouveau villa, standing next to the Tugendhat and Löw-Beer villas, is one of the most endangered Czech monuments. The aim is to use the building and its garden to create a centre for dialogue about the history of minorities in Moravia.
The whole reconstruction would cost around 120 million Czech Crowns and the city council now has to debate where this would come from.
In 2017 The Friends brought our working party from Villa Stiassni to help the volunteers at the Villa Arnold. We also contributed materials and items to help to clear the garden.
