Summer Outing to Buscot Park in Oxfordshire 18th July 2023
Buscot Park, near the town of Faringdon, is a Grade II* listed building in Neoclassical style, constructed between 1780 and 1783 was the desitnation for our outing on 18th July.
The house and estate were bequeathed to the National Trust in 1956. The contents, including works of art by Rembrandt and Burne-Jones, are owned by the Faringdon Collection Trust.

The house is set within a large park containing woodland, lakes and formal gardens. In the early 20th century, the landscape architect Harold Peto worked at Buscot. Despite its woodland setting leading to an informal lake, the water garden is formal in its concept.
The Friends and their guests arrived and enjoyed coffee/tea in the Tearoom, followed by a tour of the house, given by Amy Lim. For lunch there was the tearoom or a picnic. At 2pm they began a tour of the garden with Richard Wheeler, specialist in Garden History
