THE CHÂTEAU OF UHERČICE REVIVES

Aerial2020 cNPUThe Friends of Czech Heritage have aided several projects at the château since 2008 and now a major grant from the EU and the Czech Ministry of Culture has secured the restoration/conservation of an entire wing, a project just completed.

The château in south Moravia near the border with Austria is one of the most extensive in the Czech lands and includes different architectural periods. A new visitor route is planned.

Among The Friends' projects was the restoration of the double staircase between the Rose Garden and an upper level, and the stabilisation of the ceiling of the Banqueting Hall in 2012 to 2014: at the time the interior was on the point of collapse.
