The Friends were nominated for a ‘Ceny Ď’ prize in the Czech Republic

June 2015 - The Friends were nominated for a ‘Ceny Ď’ prize in the Czech Republic. This is for our work on Uherčice Château in South Moravia. The château found itself in a restricted area near the Iron Curtain border with Austria for 41 years, and was used by border guards for some time. Since 1989 the Czech Heritage Institute has been

conserving and restoring the huge complex with help from various sources, including individuals such as the opera singer Pavlína Senič, who has followed an honourable tradition of Czech artists and performers in giving recitals to aid the architectural heritage of the country. Since 2011 The Friends have made substantial grants to help rescue the interior of the Banqueting Hall, and it was for this work that the keeper of property has nominated us. The Friends were previously nominated for ‘Ceny Ď’ prize by the manager of the Château of Lysice in 2012.
