A VISIT TO JAN ZRZAVÝ'S BIRTHPLACE

The Friends have been supporting a suitable future for the birthplace of Jan Zrzavý (1890 - 1977), a well-known Czech artist. A regional politician, Martin Kukla, the Sheriff of the Vysočina Region, came to see the house last week and learn about its history. The Sheriff, was astonished to read about our past coverage of the campaign to preserve the house in The Friends' 'Newsletter'.

Jan Zrzavý was a great friend of the world-famous Czech composer Bohuslav Martinů. The campaign group now has the assistance of a prominent musician and Martinů specialist, the cellist Petr Nouzovský, who will organise and play concerts for the cause and help fundraising towards the goal of a museum illustrating Zrzavý's life.
