Lecture in London by Christine Sitwell
The Friends were entertained on Thursday evening 26th October at the Embassy of Slovakia by Christine Sitwell, who gave a very interesting talk about the the relationship between the National Trust and the National Heritage Institute of the Czech Republic. Since the Velvet Revolution the two organisations have exchanged delegations, which has helped to foster a close working relationship. This in turn has led to an exchange of information about working practices that has benefited both organisations. By comparing one with another both have been able to view their organisations with a critical eye.
Of particular importance has been the development of volunteering in the Czech Republic and especially within the National Heritage Institute. This has been been greatly influenced by The Friends' own volunteering actives in the Czech Republic. Christine Sitwell was particularly impressed during her visit by the Baroque Theatre in Český Krumlov.
